Taking Responsibility- Why Is This So Hard For Parents?
I think everyone knows what I’m talking about, from the classic ‘GTA made my kid do it!’ lines to the now ‘omg Dark Knight was too violent for my 5 year old!!!‘
Am I the only one who notices that there are RATINGS for a reason? Like say since GTA is rated M17+ that perhaps it isn’t made for your charming 8 year old who cusses like a sailor? Or that Dark Knight is PG13 so maybe its not your typical Pixar family friendly movie? Maybe you could have looked anywhere before the movie came out about Ledger’s “dark and chilling performance” and thought to yourself “hmmm maybe I should do a little more research on this before I take my kids.”
No, because it seems like all people want to do these days are two things, whine and complain. Nobody wants to take responsibility and say “well that’s my own fault, I shouldn’t have bought little Johnny the game where you kill people and pick up prostitutes” or “I shouldn’t have taken little Suzie to that movie about an insane terrorist with homicidal tendencies.”
And what is the result of these whiners and complainers? Well of course we must punish the video game industry! We must make all movies suitable for toddlers!
Will the media ever tell these people to just shut the heck up and take some responsibility for once? Not likely which is why we need to tell these people exactly what we all think when we hear them complaining.
